Maurer Library
The Maurer Library and W. Nelson Media Center houses Indiana’s largest collection of Judaica. The
library has more than 12,000 items in its collection, including reference materials, sacred texts, children’s books, popular adult fiction, and non-fiction.
The Maurer Library is a Shared Partner with the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. As such, the holdings of the BJE library are now searchable online via the IMCPL Website at www.imcpl.org. Patrons of the IMCPL are also able to request materials from the BJE and have them delivered to their local branches. BJE patrons are also able to request materials from the general library collection and pick them up at the Maurer Library. The Bureau welcomes educators, clergy, lay leaders, students, families, and the public at large to take advantage of this extraordinary communal resource.
- The Jewish Heritage VHS Video Collection offers an extensive array of videos, which include comedies, Israeli films, dramas, vintage Yiddish cinema, and children’s materials.
- The Mervis Computer Lab includes computers for students’ use, as well as several reserved exclusively for educators. All of these are Internet accessible and are equipped with a variety of Hebrew and general software applications.
- Our Holocaust Education Tolerance Trunk program circulates Holocaust materials free of charge to Indiana schools, libraries, and museums for student and educator use.
