The Bureau of Jewish Education was founded in 1910 with a dream held by community leaders and its founder, Rabbi I.E. Neustadt. Their innovation was to establish a communal, co-educational Hebrew School. Today, as the second-oldest Hebrew School in the United States, housed in the Smulyan-Stolkin Education Center, we continue to follow the original ideas of our founders.

The mission of the Bureau of Jewish Education is to inspire and promote life-long Jewish education.  The BJE is committmed to providing services and fostering cooperation throughout the community.
